The Prologue

“I think this is when most people give up on their stories.  They come out of college wanting to change the world, wanting to get married, wanting to have kids and change the way people buy office supplies.  But they get into the middle and discover it was harder than they thought.  They can’t  see the distant shore anymore, and they wonder if their paddling is moving them forward.  None of the trees behind them are getting smaller and none of the trees ahead are getting bigger.  They take it out on their spouses and they go looking for an easier story.”

-Don Miller, A Million Miles in a Thousand Years, pg 179

I have been in a giant funk this summer, school, work, life in general have all been stuck in neutral since may.  And if I am being honest with myself they have been there since I graduated undergrad.  I recently read Don Miller’s Book, A Million Miles in a Thousand Years, and it kicked my ass.  I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.  Keeping it very brief, the book is very much about focusing in on your story.  With the recent months for me having been particularly aimless, the book was exactly the wakeup call I needed.

So, the plan is, from now til the end of 2010, to be transparent with the stories I want to be living.  I  will post the story(s) I want to live, and will update once a week at least on each one.

The first story I want to be living is to be a person of integrity.  So between now and my next post, I will try to create a simple way to take a step towards making that happen.

P.S. This post may seem a bit clunky, but hopefully in the future the format will be brief and self-explanatory.
